Okay, so who else is caving and downloading Pretty.Odd?

I, in an ideal world where I possessed some fucking patience, would wait until I had the deluxe edition in my paws until listening! But I'm weak, so whatever!

Work is absolutely killing me- the end of the financial year is not exactly a time of joyous celebration when you have a massive underspend in your department. Its also not joyous when you're waiting on a funding decision for your Masters degree and EVERYONE IS ON HOLIDAY WTF!

NEVERMIND. I have 6000 words of Bob/Brendon fluff. It has the provisional title of 'An Unapologetic Love Story' and is over 4000 words longer than anything I've ever written in oh ever. I blame matertera, who keeps allowing me to have discussions like 'what sort of flower would Brendon give Bob?'

To my U.S pals, is it you know, feasible to major in music and minor in art? I am confused by this thing you call 'College' but is clearly University in different clothes.

It's more than possible to major in music and minor in art. I've known people with much stranger combinations, such as a major in philosophy and a minor in history, or a major in music and minor in spanish, or a major in psychology and minor in biology. I contemplated a chem major/ physics minor myself.

In the US, what we call "college" and "university" are precisely the same thing, with regards to prestige and difficulty in being accepted for enrollment. Colleges, however, tend to have a small enrollment and be private (more expensive). Universities tend to be much larger (>10,000 students), state-run (public) and urban. The cost of a school seldom has anything to do with quality - like with brand names, if they're more recognizable, they'll probably charge more.

So who goes where? Depends on where you'd like to live (city/boonies), how much money you've got (unis tend to give more financial aid), and how you personally like the amenities of the school.

My personal example: I went to New College of Florida, very expensive, and very small. Difficult to get into, and very very tough classes. My largest class had 45 students, smallest had 6. My professors all knew me well (I did NOT like this!). Contrast this with Aberdeen, where my smallest class probably had 100 students and I seldom spoke with my professors, if ever. It was affordable. The classes were easy, but I felt the teaching was superior to New College. Perhaps it was just the accents making everything sound more digestible. Yum. Then I went to James Madison University - cheap, in the middle of fucking nowhere, classes so easy they were an insult to my intelligence, and terrible teachers. Just bad all around. So...I've had a little bit of everything.

I rewatched the last 4 eps of BSG S3 and I really, really think the final cylon is Roslin.

Thanks for all the info- I am writing a college AU and I realised I knew nothing about your colleges! I was woefully ignorant.

The final cylon isn't Roslin- BSG released a promo photo and Adama, Roslin, Tigh, Helo, Athena, Lee, two model sixes, Baltar and er, someone else? Ron Moore has said that nobody in that photo is the final cylon.

*desperate droopy woeful face*

BSG is officially raping my brain with this cylon nonsense. Or rather, they're making me rape my own brain to come up with an answer that makes sense, dammit!

Yeah College and University are the same thing essentially. There's also Tech schools too just to confuse you farther.

I'm also seconding the you could major and minor in those.

And pretty much the rest. Although I went to a very small, private, fairly inexpensive college. With classes no larger than 30 and on one occasion one that was just me. I was excepted to the Rochester Institute of Technology, which was more expensive, a whole hell of a lot larger with classes between 35 and 100 students. It was big and scared me so I stayed at my tiny (less than 200 student) college.

Hmm, I will have to work that stuff in somehow. This is why I don't write AUs etc- I have this control freak need for the details to be perfect!

I am just going to invent a fictional east coast college...

I feel like I went to a fictional east coast college, no one's heard of it. That said feel free to pick my brain for details, I'm from the east coast, well I'm not coastal, but I've been there, and do live in the eastern part of the US.
