Tonight at work was either hilarious or tragic, take your pick. My boss is at a regional meeting tomorrow and off friday to there was a billion things to do before she goes. Add to that we have new tenants arriving at the weekend and the Torcher Parade is on Saturday.
I got an email from a prospective tenant regarding her requests and it was so hilarious:
'no smoker, non-vegetarian. No mixed sex, no smokers, no pref on vegetarians'
OMG WTF? I laughed so hard.
I'm reading rendezvous with Rama at the moment and am really enjoying it, waiting for my new CJ. Cherryh books to arrive. I've ordered the next books in the Fortress series, the first ones were really satisfying.
Oh, and I've started hanging around delicious. I'm tagging quite a bit- mostly stuff I'm reading now like KKM (*facepalm*)

Today I mananged to make someone frightened of me again just by laughing. I have been told my laugh is exceedingly evil, but the girl from my work thought it was wicked witch evil. My mum also says when I laugh I do it like Santa Claus: with my whole body. I can't help it.

I can't stop looking at pictures of Taylor Hanson *cries*. I actually feel skeevy! Dirty! Perverted! I have no idea why since he's older than me and it's not like he's naked or anything.
I'm not even reading fanfic! Not Hancest! I know, I know, I read Supernatural Sam/Dean and I've written stuff that just might be counted as just as skeevy. But for some reason I just can't read it. I could maybe stretch to Taylor/someone else though. I'm sure I saw a couple of crack-like Hanson fics somewhere..

heynderyckx asked for more detail on the flat 3/2 trip for my bday, so I guess I can indulge her :-)We took the bus down to Glasgow from Aberdeen at the ass end of early in the morning, and poor Nicole was sick. Which meant that she had to stay awake the whole journey. When we arrived my mum met us and we drove to Kelvingrove Art gallery. I've been so many times in my life; I wanted to share it with my girls (although I don't think we fully appreciated it because we were tired). Next we went home, cooked, lazed and watched the prestige. It was met with much sarcasm and snores in some quarters, but I really enjoyed it.
Next day we slept in majorly before consuming a fry up and driving to Asda, Jane and I took my mum's convertible and drove a little bit, then we took the rover to Luss, where we ate ice cream and Adrienne took five million pictures. Seriously. When we got back my family started arriving and my Uncle Roddy took charge of the BBQ. The weather was gorgeous but it got a bit cold at night; we were all indoors by the time the food was ready!
As for Hanson, all my Smash Hits inspired dreams did not come true because hey, the middle one is already married, but it was a fucking ace concert. The hormone levels in the hall could have leveled a small nation, especially when Taylor sang 'Crazy Beautiful' on his own *sigh*
I am a bad person. But I'm now a 22 year old bad person.
I totally forgot to tell you guys about my birthday. It wasn't what I expected but I had a good time. It made be sad as much as I was happy because I realised just how much I love my life in Aberdeen and how much I'm going to miss it. I'm having issues about separation already.
Still the weather was gorgeous and me an the gels went to my house for 3 days which was sort of awesome. I love them so much, hee! Plus my family are also made of cool. No, really. I got loads of comics, and tickets to go see Hanson, who were my fave band when I was younger (about 13)

Marvel is like crack, only I suspect a crack habit might be cheaper
A few months ago I was reading SFX (for Americans this is the coolest sci-fi and fantasy mag ever) and they reveiewed the first issue of the new JLA. I had read Uncanny X-Men when I was abit younger, along with some other stuff like Lucifer and Sandman. But Superman had always been my favourite hero and here was a chance to rejoin comic canon, and rejoin it with Brad Meltzer on writing duties. Can you say yay?
The new line-up doesn't disappoint. There's Black Canary, Red Arrow, Green Lantern, Vixen, Black Lightening and Hawkgirl along with staple founder members Superman, Batman and Wonderwoman.
Of course, I had underestimated the sheer pull that comics have on me. I started off with JLA, but now have Midnighter and Grifter, The Authority, Marvel Civil War (and it's spin offs like those in Amazing Spiderman, Ms Marvel and Winter Soldier) Midnighter, 52, Wolverine and Deadpool, Ultimate X-Men and Runaways all going. Also not forgetting Buffy.
Sure sometimes the retcons and blatant disregard of canon get on my nerves. But dude, there's just so much history. I love the characters and I love that they do all this stupid stuff.
I feel the need for a list...
Top 5 Superheroes
1. Superman
Because he's just so iconic. He appears in so many media, he's so ingrained in pop culture. If only I could get over my dislike of Quitely's art and read the new Grant Morrison.
2. Apollo and Midnighter
I know this is so blatantly cheating, but it's my list, so there. Besides, you couldn't split them or it would end nasty. They're superheroes in love! And not cliched love either. They even got married.
3. Northstar
Shut up, dude. I love him. He's so gay and french and very, very cool. Though I have to say my fave chracterisation of him is a fanon one from Te and Jane St Clair's story 'A Dangerous Man'. Yummy.
4. Wolverine
Okay I bow to a fanboy favourite here. He's such an anti-hero, and he's turned up in practically every marvel book.
5. Colossus
Mostly I'm talking Ultimate Colossus here. I love his embarassed face. Also, strong and cool.

Sister Grimm is unbeleiveably cool. The Runaway's leader is pretty handy with a staff, and so fuckin emo.

I was, and am, a big X-Force fan. I fell pretty hard for the Harlequin eyed, cynical, chance bending merc. Plus if she can handle being with Cable...

I like her best in Exiles, but I'm also an Alpha Flight fan (was I the only one who thought the all new, all different Alpha Flight were hilarious?) so Heather ranks up there pretty high.

It's the easter holidays! Yay! Three weeks of nothing.
I'm cooking for the flat tonight, have no idea what yet, though. I have to e-mail Diana because I haven't in ages and I'm a bad friend. Seriously, yo.
My friend Stepanka had her baby! Her name is Anife Sophie (I have no idea about the name, dude) and I'm her psuedo-Auntie! I haven't met her awake yet, though she sleeps all the time.

2) For Dee to just up and marry Papadama is she loves him so fucking much
3) For Roslin to be kickass the way she used to be. Come on woman, I know you've gotten tough, but where's the love? I used to cry when you had cancer. Now I say meh, just ELECT ROMO INSTEAD!!!!
4) For Romo and Lee to fall in love. It would be a sitcom all in its own right! Lawyers in Love!
5)Gaeta to get laid. With anyone. Seriously. The cast and crew all say he's gay yet HE NEVER GETS LAID BY ANYONE. It's sad because he's so hot.

Maybe she wasn't just being a hard bitch.

I am sick of trying to be tough
Ok, so I'm still in my Gaeta headspace. I just can't seem to get out of it- I used to love Lee a lot, but since Pegasus sacrificed herself he's been rootless. I also still love SGA and Rodney, love them a lot, but the writers continually spit in my metaphorical face. Hate.
I've been listening to Gregory and The Hawk a lot lately, along with stuff like Azure Ray. 'Rise' is such an awesome song.

I am soaking wet and grouchy. Luckily I have BSG to keep me warm. Heh. I have to say, this week's ep was better than last, but not by a huge stretch. It had some lovely moments- Roslin and Adama, Lee asking if the box from his dad is ticking. But honestly, did no-one on BSG have a nice mum? Were they all alcaholic bitches? I bet Helo's mum was lovely.

I had a good tutorial today for my anthropology of the north class. We're a small group and the discussion was ace; we basically took Julian Steward apart. His work sucks, man. Someone needs to go to the Illinois archives and show him for the sexist, racist mcarthyite he really was. I can't beleive the ASA still has an award in his name *shudder* mind you, British and American Anthropology has often disagreed on a lot. My other class is interesting too, we're doing a lot on technologies of the self.
Battlestar Galactica continues to make me cry every single week. Seriously, read the TWOP recaps for ep 13, then go back and watch the ep again. So beautiful.
