In which I ponder Myspace, and how I have yet to leave my teenage hang-ups behind

So, I have a myspace. I haven't touched it in oh forever, but I keep seeing all the bands that I like have myspace. Here's the thing - my myspace friends are [profile] always_august and Tom. That's it. I really have whole swathes of issues with it- for one thing, the whole myspace photo angle is SO spectacularly unflattering for me.

So I want to add bands, but also am wary of the whole thing. Honestly, I though I thought the internet was supposed to solve that problem.

Any of you guys have a myspace? Maybe we should have a bandom myspace friending meme. Or something.

Myspace squicks me out like nothing else. I briefly had an account I used to find long-lost loves from my previous life (read: people I haven't seen since middle school and actually forgot existed when I moved across the country at age 16) and promptly deleted it once it had served its purpose.

It's to my understanding Myspace is quite popular with musicians and actors, however. Ones which have no concept of grammar or are over 25, unfortunately, but it's still a vital part of being a die-hard fan. I've chosen to abstain. I'd feel like too much of a stalker otherwise.

Just use it to keep up with your bands and nothing else! What's wrong with that?

Yeah, myspace makes me feel OLD. I'm 22! I'm very young, if not terribly nubile.

True. I just want to be able to keep up with gigs, shennanigans etc. I just feel like a loser with my one myspace friend.

MYSPACE IS BAD FOR YOU. IT IS THE HIGH SCHOOL OF THE SOCIAL NETWORKING WORLD.
